BLT33.9: Launching Foil Balloons From Austin Summerfest

Here we go again. The PecanPico4 from the trash-bag experiments was recovered and we brought it to Austin where we have a large Hamfest this weekend. Many of our BLT group were sleeping at Fred’s Jousthouse (N5JXO) in Round Rock, so we launched from there after a good dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Sven (AF5LI/DL7AD) has done a good job levelling out the lift of the three 32″ foil balloons a slow ascent rate and he launched them in challenging ground winds at 0420 UTC. By the time of writing the airship was floating already for more than 8 hours around 20,000 ft altitude.
